Photogrom Prints
Before color photography became commonplace, photochrom prints brought the world to life in vivid color. Created primarily around the turn of the 20th century, these remarkable images transformed black-and-white photographs into richly colored photomechanical prints.
The collection moves through landscapes, cities, architecture and everyday scenes from Europe, Asia, the Middle East and beyond — from Scottish lakes and Alpine villages to temples, streets and distant coastlines. Originally produced for travelers and collectors, photochroms occupy a strange space between photography and illustration: realistic in detail, yet often dreamlike in color.
Still Edition’s Photochrom collection brings together selected archival images for their unusual atmosphere, saturated colors and distinctive view of a world caught between the 19th century and modernity.
