Agama Reticulata — Antique Russian Reptile Study
This early twentieth-century zoological plate presents Agama reticulata from above, its body extending vertically across a warm aged-paper ground. The lizard’s broad torso, powerful limbs, curved claws, patterned skin, and exceptionally long tail are recorded with the close attention to anatomical detail associated with historical scientific illustration.
Dense black linework creates an intricate network across the back, while individual scales are carefully articulated along the head, limbs, and tail. The tail sweeps around the lower left of the composition, introducing movement into the otherwise specimen-like arrangement. A small numbered scale diagram provides an additional anatomical detail.
