This eighteenth-century botanical plate depicts Arum seguine as a compact upright specimen with broad pointed leaves gathered around a thick, segmented stem. The foliage shifts between muted olive and golden ochre, with dark veins giving each leaf a strong graphic structure. At the center, a patterned pale spadix emerges from a curved yellow-orange spathe.

The illustration comes from Nicolaus Joseph von Jacquin's Selectarum stirpium Americanarum historia and is identified on the original sheet as plate 229. Its careful botanical observation is balanced by a remarkably simple composition: a single plant isolated against warm cream paper, rendered through fine linear detail and restrained earthy color.
