Botanical Observations — Plate X is an early nineteenth-century scientific plate from Romanus Adolph Hedwig's Observationum botanicarum fasciculus primus, published in Leipzig in 1802. Marked Tab. X., it brings together six numbered botanical studies arranged across a broad field of warm cream paper.
A dense rectangular study of reddish-brown circular structures anchors the upper half, accompanied by orange forms and a small natural fragment. Below, enlarged details include a textured specimen and fine curling structures rendered with delicate linear precision. Rust orange, brown, cream, black, and touches of green give the plate a restrained hand-colored character, while the generous negative space emphasizes its early scientific purpose.
