Fine gray shading gives the pale flower remarkable depth, while burgundy-crimson edges trace the curling folds and create a dramatic contrast against the warm archival ground.

The elongated floral tube transitions through burgundy, rose, and cream before meeting a green calyx. Broad veined leaves, an unopened bud, and a dark curving stem surround the flower, balancing its sculptural form with richly rendered green foliage.
