This extraordinary 1825 celestial chart transforms Draco and Ursa Minor into elaborate mythological figures winding through the northern sky. A vast green serpentine dragon dominates the composition, its horned head and vivid red tongue contrasting with the smaller golden-brown bear representing Ursa Minor below.

Engraved stars, Greek letters, astronomical labels and constellation boundaries are integrated directly into the illustrated figures, while muted green, ochre, cream, black and red hand coloring gives the chart its distinctive nineteenth-century character. The result beautifully combines scientific observation, mythology and decorative celestial cartography.
