Captured from Mars orbit, this HiRISE photograph shows NASA’s Perseverance rover crossing the rugged terrain west of Jezero Crater. The rover appears as a small green speck within the broad landscape, while faint tracks record its movement across an area known by the science team as Arbot.
The image was taken on June 13, 2026, one day before Perseverance completed a total driving distance equal to a marathon. Warm rust, ochre, burnt orange, and muted blue-gray tones reveal ridges, slopes, fractured rock, wind-shaped deposits, and deep geological shadows.
