Lassen Volcanic National Park, Ranger Naturalist Service presents C. Don Powell’s dramatic interpretation of Lassen Peak in northern California. The pale volcanic mountain rises above dark evergreen forests and Manzanita Lake, while a dense plume extends upward into a golden sky. Cream, dusty pink and violet shapes define the mountain against the darker foreground.

Designed around 1938 for the National Park Service, the poster combines landscape imagery with information for park visitors. The upper panel identifies the Ranger Naturalist Service headquarters at Loomis Memorial and lists lectures, hikes, motor caravans, campfire programs and information available from late June through mid-September. Strong silhouettes and a restrained screen-printed palette give the landscape its distinctive WPA-era graphic character.
