Météorites du Muséum — Plate II
This remarkable 19th-century scientific plate presents five meteorite specimens as individual geological studies, carefully arranged across a warm cream field. Each stone is numbered and accompanied by a linear scale, allowing its irregular form and dimensions to be considered alongside its distinctive surface texture.
The specimens range from dense, dark masses to lighter fractured forms with angular edges and complex exposed surfaces. A large central meteorite anchors the composition, while four surrounding specimens create a balanced museum-style arrangement. Fine monochrome linework and stippling give their surfaces an almost tactile character.
