This eighteenth-century anatomical plate presents a standing male figure with the superficial structures of the body removed to reveal the musculature beneath. Facing forward with one arm extended, the figure exposes the ribs, abdominal wall, muscles of the limbs, tendons, and structures of the head through exceptionally detailed engraved linework.

The anatomical study is set within an elaborate rocky landscape rather than an empty scientific field. Dark rock formations, vegetation, distant mountains, and water surround the pale figure, while an overturned classical vessel or sculptural fragment rests among flowers at the lower right. The combination of anatomical observation and carefully constructed scenery gives the plate the character of both a scientific study and an eighteenth-century landscape engraving.
