This late nineteenth-century botanical plate presents a pineapple plant as a striking isolated natural-history study. The ripe fruit occupies the lower center of the composition, its warm golden-brown surface carefully articulated through the distinctive repeating geometry of its textured skin.

An impressive crown of overlapping olive and deep green leaves rises above the fruit, while long spear-shaped leaves extend outward from its base. A small mound of dark earth anchors the plant against the open cream ground, giving the specimen a strong sculptural presence within the original fine printed border.
