Unstalked Crinoids — Siboga Expedition Plate XXVII

Four unstalked crinoid studies are arranged across this early twentieth-century scientific plate, revealing dramatically different configurations of the same intricate marine form. Two dense, circular specimens occupy the upper half, while a pair of elongated crinoids extends vertically below them against the warm cream ground.

The monochrome treatment draws attention to structure and repetition. Closely packed feather-like arms create complex patterns in the rounded specimens, while the lower examples gather their arms into narrow bundles ending in delicate cirri.
